The Rikon® 13" Portable Planer with Helical Style Cutterhead and 2-Speed Feed - Model: 25-135H benchtop planer features a six row helical-style cutter head and 26 HSS insert cutters. Each indexable knife insert is precision sharpened on two edges and can be easily changed/rotated if damaged or worn – just loosen, rotate, and retighten! The alternating cutter pattern in the cutter head is super-efficient, and with a two-speed feed rate, produces a smooth cut surface. Planer features a threaded 4-post housing for extra head stability when running, side handle for quick table height adjustments, repeat cut setting lever, large fold-up extension tables, flat top with rollers for stock returning, and side carry handles.

It came very well packaged, easy to get set up, used it to plane down some boards to make a cheese boards that we used new year,
I wish the chipper discharge was better I get more than I would like coming out the front of the planer but the boards come out very nice.

Works as it should.. Been using mine for about 18 months, and no complaints at all, except maybe the dust collection is a little weak. Other than that, when it starts to "slow down when planing" rotate the blades.. I couldnt believe how much a differenct that made after a year+ worth of work. Wood was flying through the machine clean and flat again!

I purchased this planer several months ago and have been very satisfied with its performance and ease of use. Out of the box, it took less than 5 minutes to have it set and ready for use. The presets are convenient and the dual speeds are a plus considering the variety of woods from soft to hard that I work with. I recently rotated the cutters and found that process to be easy and quick. I intend to upgrade to carbide cutters when the next rotation is necessary since I work with mostly 4/4 & 8/4 tropical woods. I have no complaints and am not experiencing snipe or uneven cuts on the same thickness settings.

I got the Rikon 13" portable planer because it was one of the few available. I have Rikon bandsaws and have enjoyed working with them. Additionally Rikon customer service has been great the few times I have called them. This planer however does not meet any reasonable expectations for quality of cut or repeatability piece to piece.. I had a number of 3-1/2" wide oak boards to plane down. The thickness varied and anything over a 1/16" cut bogged down the machine. It would never plane a wide board of hardwood. I do not recommend buying this machine and wish I never had.
