I've used WaterLox for well over 30 years. You must follow the directions and prep your wood and test before jumping in. A real issue with how it will dry is humidity. If you don't have a climate controlled shop where you can control the humidity, then you might not get the results you want. It provides a beautiful finish and a tough finish. I used it on a oak swing that sat out in the weather for 25 years and never rotted out. Great stuff!

Waterlox finishes are easy to use and make your project look amazing. I have been using it for 20 years and will not use anything else on a wood project, especially walnut. I apply with a foam brush, the finish lays out perfectly as most oils will. People need to understand that the Sealer/Finish goes down first to seal the wood, two coats. If you want satin or gloss you have to buy those separately from the sealer/finish, but you need to lay down the sealer/finish first. The sealer/finish is labeled this way because you can keep laying down more coats if you want a semi-gloss finish. This is what I do mostly for tabletops, desktops and bartops. It provides a very durable and long lasting finish. I lightly sand between coats at 400 grit and wipe down. The last coat does not sanded, if need be, I will use a brown paper bag as it will not score the surface, you could also just use that between coats instead of 400 grit. It is the best finish I have used, extremely durable. Also people need to understand that all oils will amber up to a degree and thus change your stain color or the color of the raw wood. Always test first, this is always a good practice in anything you do. This product makes walnut look it's absolute best. I mostly build in walnut. I would not use an oil on a painted project, those are top coated in poly acrylic, if needed.

The description is misleading and the picture is accurate as to what you get which is the medium sheen, not satin. I twice received the medium sheen after ordering what I though was a satin sealer/finish. I can’t even find that Waterlox makes a satin that is both a sealer and a finish. Woodcraft was good about making it right and compensating me for the mix ups, but be forewarned before you buy this, especially if you don’t have a lot of time to get it sorted out. Only reason for the extra star was because Woodcraft customer service earned it for the non-existent product.

Very good product. Hard to believe the first review. Waterlox has been in business for many years for good reason! I was glad to find this after my previous tung oil finish was no longer available. It’s bee’s knees for anyone wanting to bring out that beautiful oiled look especially for darker hardwoods including exotics. I’ll buy Waterlox again and again. One customer in 2019 was very pleased such that he requested the same thing for all the laminated hardwood restaurant surfaces I’m making in 2020 for restaurant #2. Another customer this year LOVED Waterlox on his large, black walnut computer surface I recently completed. Tip: Be sure to eliminate any air in leftover portions so that what’s left will remain good for a long time. One trick is to squeeze the can until the liquid level rises back to the top of the opening.

This is a very expensive product. I used it because the poly on my floor had flaked off because of water and I wanted something that wouldn't do that. However , there is a large list of do's and don'ts on their website and I found it a pain to use. The finish is very dark, the color of red wine. It changes the stain color a lot. They want 3 coats at a certain app rate and it was hard to apply it at that rate. For another user and me, you need more than 3 coats, but I only applied 3 because I ran out of time. With many coats ,the color is very dark. They say, keep a fan on for 7 days, we kept the fan on for at least 3 weeks. We had to do it in the fall when the temperatures lower. It has been 4 weeks and I can still smell the tung oil some. It bubbles easily, especially if the surface is rough. I would sand between coats, even through you don't have to. Right now it is very soft and fragile and easily scratched down to the wood. I used Deft stain with Tung oil and it is possible that the stain prevented the finish from penetrating into the wood. They want you to use the sealer first. If you want to the satin finish, you have to spend more money for the other product. I wouldn't use this again.

Waterlox finishes look great and are easy to use. A pro told me about this product and I've not used anything else once I tried it.
