I’m impressed. They came out awesome! I used bubinga wood for the handles. I didn’t turn them. I shaped them with a disk sander and rasps to get a great ergonomic fit that looks great. I had to buy the 11/16â€

I bought a few of these because they looked interesting but the quality is just not there. The shanks are so poorly finished after casting that I have to file the slag off the sides before they will fit in the handles and one of the three kits has shanks that were cut in the wrong spot so they are shorter and doesn't leave me confident in their ability to hold up well. Also the flange part of the tool where it meets the handle is 1/8 inch out of round which leaves a nasty gap.

These aren't made for putting wooden handles on. They are tools that were designed to have plastic handles injection molded around them, so the tang is not round, its a weird oval ridged shape that doesn't easily go into a drilled hole. They feel like soft cast metal, not solid steel, so the durability leaves something to be desired, also.

The instructions call for an 11/16" Pen Makers drill bit, however if you drill an 11/16" hole, the metal handles are way too loose inside. I drilled several test holes until I got to 5/8", which seems to be the correct size. 5/8" hole is snug and with epoxy glue should make a good hold. Not sure yet on durability. The cultivator seems very weak to me, but I'll know more once I've completed. If I can update this review, I'll add my additional thoughts.
