Learn the basics of spoon carving using a few essential tools. There will be a detailed demonstration of carving a spoon with axe and knife from a log, with insights into techniques, tools, and materials. Each student will practice various knife grips and then carve their own spoon from a sawn blank with step-by-step directions. Learn about staked joinery while I guide you through the process of making a short stool from board to finished piece. Two full days of intense, but fulfilling work. Each student will craft their own stool from a single board. The joinery is focused on round tenons made by hand using hand planes.
