Join us for an immersive two-day woodworking workshop where we will build a classic low-height pegged stool, an early furniture form that dates back centuries. Traditional stools, commonly found in medieval households and early European homes, are characterized by their robust, mortise-and-tenon construction and simple yet elegant design. Students will gain hands-on experience using traditional hand tools such as hand planes, chisels, handsaws, and marking tools. While also incorporating modern efficiency with table saws, router tables, and tapering jigs. This class also introduces the precursor of chair-making concepts, including resultant angles, splay, and rake—fundamental skills for advancing into Windsor chairs or other post-and-rung furniture styles. This is possibly one of the simplest 3D cutting boards to make. Tom will present tips on precise glue ups, cutting on a table saw, flattening your boards on a planer, sanding, routing, and finishing. In addition to the cutting board, you will make blanks for knife handles that will match your new board. We supply all the materials, and you will go home with a 3D cutting board.

Introduction to Lasers for Woodworking

Upgrade your woodworking skills incorporating the use of laser etching and engraving. Basic overview/understanding of XTOOLs software. Learn how to create your own woodworking LOGO. Understand some of the applications such as engrave pens, Christmas ornaments, and logos. Use the laser to layout/cut wood for classic scroll saw projects. Learn to personalize your woodworking projects. For the class we will be utilizing both the XTOOLS F1 and F1 Ultra. We will give a basic understanding of the differences between the two. There will not be a need to bring a computer however if you are able to download the XTOOLS software on a laptop prior to the class you are welcome to bring it with you. The intention of this class is to introduce you to the endless possibilities that incorporating a laser into your shop.

Make an eye-popping charcuterie board with an epoxy poured center. Building molds, prepping wood, clamping and mixing for the pour are just a few things you will learn in this class. Turn a Lidded Box

This class will go over the tools and techniques to turn a lidded box with a fit lid. With just a few tools and a small amount of almost any hardwood, burl, or exotic wood, we will make a beautiful gift, or craft show item. We will go over chucking methods and techniques to create your design, end grain hollowing, and sanding and applying sanding sealer, and friction finish or poly. Each Student will take home a box to show off to their friends and family. Some woodturning experience is preferred.
