If you're like me, your hand tools are lying all over your shop and you can never find a tool when you need it. In this class we're going to help you fix that by using hand tools to make your hand tools a home. We will be building a classic Dutch tool chest. The chest is modeled after the Dutch Tool Chest by Christopher Schwartz. The chest will be made from Poplar and will include carrying handles, hinged lid. A variety of joints including dovetails, miters, dados, etc..., will be used in the construction of the chest. This is a solid chest, meant to last a lifetime and beyond. Beginning Relief Carving

Relief carving is the method used to raise a carved design on wood so that it stands above the background. Our instructor Saman will guide each student though a series of project-based exercises designed to build the student's confidence. Mothers Day - Ladies only Live Edge Bath Caddy

Get mom what she really wants this year, a day in the shop making her own personalized bath tray. Trays can be customized to hold a phone, ipad, book, wineglass, candles, and anything else mom could want handy while enjoying a relaxing soak. A good knife is indispensable, in this class Scott will guide the student through the process of making one. Each student will be given a knife kit and a choice of knife scales. Scott will cover handle sizing, shaping, fastening, finishing and polishing. He will also discuss customizing kit blades to refine the blade shape and how to properly sharpen and maintain the blade. At the end of the class the student will walk out of class with a sharp quality knife that will last them a life time. Please note there is an additional $100 materials fee due to the instructor.

Maple Leaf Bowl Carving

During this hands-on class, you will be making a bowl with a leaf design. The class will start with a discussion of different wood types, an explanation of the tools required, and an overview of the techniques used to cut wood. Once students have acquired a basic understanding, Saman will lead them in carving the inside of their bowl, then designing and whittling the outside of the bowl.
