Three Dimensional Carving

If you have ever wanted to carve three-dimensionally but didn't know how to start or make your piece more life-like, this is the class for you. Whether you want to understand how to carve a realistic face, bears, horses, wolves or other animals, this class can help you do that. The class will offer direct instruction for novice carvers and guidance for those who are more advanced. The goal of the class is to make three-dimensional carving accessible and enjoyable for all carvers. Carvers should come with at least a 4 x 10 x 12 block of wood (basswood or butternut are easiest to work with). Carving tools should be of similar sizes & shapes as those listed.

Relief Carving

Part 1: Thursday, April 3, 4 PM - 7 PM

Part 2: Thursday, April 10, 5 PM - 7 PM

Part 3: Thursday, April 17, 5 PM - 7 PM

Part 4: Thursday, April 24, 5 PM - 7 PM

Join Charlie and other carvers of all skill levels in four sequential sessions to learn the techniques of relief carving. Charlie Milliser is a well known local carver who truly enjoys sharing his vast knowledge of relief carving with his students. Please direct questions to Charlie at [email protected]. Tuition is for 9 hours of class time. Students are required to participate in 4 sessions in a row.

Introduction To Woodturning

Saturday, April 5, 9 AM - 5 PM

Join us in the shop and learn the basics of lathe turning and how to correctly turn spindles. This class is designed for the beginning turner as well as those students who have done some turning but may still have some questions about spindle turning. Each student will turn a practice spindle, and a small woodworker's mallet to take home. Students will learn the parts of the lathe, turning tools, proper turning techniques, finishing techniques used for turning, and SAFETY while turning.
